- The doctrinal basis of the Coventry CCC shall be the fundamental truth of Christianity, including:
- The sole basis of our belief is the Bible composed of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament. We believe that the whole Scripture is inspired by God. We hold that the Scriptures are infallible and inerrant in the original manuscripts. They are the unique, full and final authority on all matters of faith and conduct;
- The unity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the Godhead; each of Whom possesses equally all the attributes of deity and the characteristics of personality;
- The Sovereignty of God in creation, revelation, redemption and final judgement;
- The dignity of Man created in the image of God, and the universal sinfulness and guilt of human nature since the fall rendering man subject to God's wrath and condemnation;
- The central purpose of God's revelation in Scripture is to call all people into fellowship with Himself. The salvation of mankind is, then, wholly a work of God's free grace, not the result, in whole or in part of human works or goodness, and must be personally appropriated by repentance and faith. Redemption from the guilt penalty and power of sin only through the sacrificial death (as our Representative and Substitute) of Jesus Christ the Incarnate Son of God;
- The full deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Son of God; His virgin birth and His real and sinless humanity; His death on the cross; His bodily Resurrection from death and His present reign in heaven and earth; Jesus Christ is the only Mediator between God and man, making intercession for His own;
- The necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity, to make the death of Christ effective to the individual sinner granting him repentance towards God and faith in Jesus Christ;
- The indwelling and work of the Holy Spirit in the believer; producing in them an increasing likeness to Christ in character and behaviour and equipping them for witness in the world;
- The expectation of the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ;
- There is one true church universal, comprised of those who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord. The Scripture commands believers to gather together to devote themselves to worship, prayer, teaching of the Word, observance of baptism and communion as the sacraments established by Jesus Christ, fellowship, service to the church through the development and use of talents and gifts, and outreach to the world;
- While standing firmly on the above doctrinal foundation, we recognise the differences in intepretation and emphasis divide the churches. For this reason we emphasize that the Coventry CCC is an interdenominational church in which we agree to keep ourselves from controversy over the denominational differences and other areas of historic disagreement, and emphasize the unity in Christ which we share with all evangelical believers.
